application of Epoxy paint to Your Garage surface

Many times we don’t think about our garages or pay much attention to their appearance. They are merely a place to park the automobiles and store the extra boxes of Holiday decorations and such. However, like any other room in your house your car port floor must be taken attention of.
Because of the use it gets, combined with drinking water, gas and engine oil that will unavoidable be spilled upon it, garage floor may easily become damaged and begin to fall apart over time useful. Epoxy coating is one method for your garage floor coverings challenge. Epoxy covering applies a layer of sealant and protectant to your concrete storage floor to make it withstand staining, moisture problems and helps it maintain its appearance.
Installing epoxy floors takes a little up-front prep before beginning. The main step in the procedure is making sure that the floor you will apply the epoxy covering onto is free of moisture, residual color and does not have a cement sealer or other finishing applied to it.
To check for moisture, have a sheet of plastic material and take it to a 3-foot x 3-foot area using masking tape. Keep it there for about two days and then remove and look for any moisture collecting on the side of the plastic facing the floor. If moisture exists, than an epoxy floors covering is not suited as epoxy requires a dry out surface to properly bond with the flooring.
Next, we’ll test to be sure the flooring doesn’t have a sealant already put on it. This test will also look for the occurrence of natural oils in the cement as well. Take a cup of water and pour it directly onto the existing flooring. It will soak in to the floor in an acceptable amount of time. If it beads or just sits on top of the flooring then the floor has probably recently been sealed or is made up of oil contaminants. Epoxy floor coverings is not well suited for cement floors which may have already been covered or contain any kind of oil residue as you won’t bond.
Finally, if you are prepared to spend almost a year testing an area of your garage area floor for suitability to setting up epoxy flooring you can paint a tiny area with regular, oil-based enamel. If this test area lasts for several weeks then it is likely an epoxy coating will last as well. However, if you decide to proceed with applying the epoxy coating you will need to remove this enamel layer that will require sanding.
